BARQ — pure silicone cube lube, 10 cSt viscosity. Smoother, faster turning and less friction between the pieces.
Why BARQ? It's Arabic for lightning — and this is the thinnest step on the silicone ladder. The thinner the oil, the faster the cube.
The number nobody else tells you
Cube silicone lubes run from Weight 1 (thinnest and fastest) to Weight 5 (thickest, most control). Most shops stop at “Weight 3” or “Fast 8/10” and never publish the actual viscosity.
BARQ is 10 cSt — a Weight 1 class oil, the thinnest step on the ladder. We print the number so you know exactly what you're buying, not just so you'll take our word for it.

Rated on the same 0–10 scale the big stores use, so you can compare directly.
Use it to
- Revive a cube that has started to feel heavy or catchy
- Keep competition cubes in shape with routine maintenance
- Try a genuinely fast lube without committing to a big bottle
How to apply
- Remove one layer of the cube (or a cap, depending on the model)
- Apply 1–2 drops to the internal pieces or the springs
- Reassemble and turn the cube 20–30 times to spread the lube
A 5 ml bottle covers several lubing sessions.
Questions people ask
How many drops do I need?
1–2 per 3×3. More does not make it faster — it slows the cube down and makes it feel heavy.
How often should I re-lube?
Every 2–4 weeks with daily use, or whenever the turning starts to feel heavy. Competition cubes need it more often.
Does it work on any puzzle?
Yes — 2×2, 3×3, big cubes, Pyraminx, Megaminx, Skewb. Any plastic puzzle.
Can I use it on the core?
BARQ is made for the pieces. A core does better with a heavier lube that stays put — a thin oil migrates away from the metal contact point quickly.
Will it affect the magnets?
No. Silicone is chemically inert and won't weaken magnets. Just don't flood them — excess oil attracts dust.
Will it damage the plastic?
No. Pure silicone is safe on cube plastics and won't cause cracking.
My cube is now too fast — what do I do?
Use less next time and tighten the tensions slightly. BARQ's job is speed; if you want more control you need a heavier lube.
5 ml or 10 ml?
5 ml covers one or two cubes for several months. 10 ml is better value if you have a collection or lube regularly.
⚠️ Safety instructions — please read before use
- For speedcubes only. Not for any other use — not on skin, hair, appliances, and never as a food oil.
- Keep out of reach of children. The bottle has a child-resistant cap — always re-close it tightly after use.
- Not food or medicine. Not for eating or drinking — do not swallow.
- If swallowed: do not induce vomiting; seek medical advice or contact a poison centre.
- Avoid eye contact. If it gets in the eyes, rinse with running water for 15 seconds; if irritation persists, see a doctor.
- Wipe up spills immediately — the oil makes surfaces and floors slippery.
- Store cool and dry, away from heat and direct sunlight.
Every order containing lube ships with a printed instruction card carrying these same instructions in Arabic and English.
