Why this particular combination

Most beginners buy just a cube, and a week later it feels heavy and catchy — so they assume the problem is them. Usually the problem is that the cube was never lubed. That's why the lube is in the box from the start.

And the 2×2 isn't filler: it's the fastest way to drill algorithms, because a shorter solve means more repetitions in the same practice session.

Where do I start?

1. Start with the 3×3. Learn the first layer only — don't rush the rest.
2. Lube it after the first week. 1–2 drops of BARQ, then turn it 20–30 times.
3. Use the 2×2 for repetition. Shorter solves mean the steps stick faster.

Are the cubes magnetic?
The 2×2 is magnetic; the 3×3 is not. That suits a beginner: your first weeks are on the 3×3, where you won't feel the difference yet — magnets start to matter around 40 seconds. When you get there, that's your cue to upgrade to a magnetic 3×3.

What age is it suitable for?
8 and up. The lube has a child-resistant cap and ships with a printed instruction card, but lubing should be done with a parent's supervision.

Stickers or coloured plastic?
Stickerless coloured plastic — it won't peel or fade with use.

Can I buy the items separately?
Yes — every piece is sold on its own except the stands. The prices above are ours, so you can check the maths yourself.

When will I need a better cube?
Around the point you're consistently under 40 seconds. Before that, the cube isn't what's slowing you down.
